Biography
With over two decades of executive and legal expertise within the television, music, and film sectors, Mr. Parron boasts a wealth of experience. He has held distinguished positions such as the former chair of the Florida Bar Entertainment, Arts, and Sports Law section, a board member of the Miami-Dade County Film & Entertainment Advisory Board, and an elected Grammy Governor of the Recording Academy. Before establishing his own legal practice and his time at Universal Music Group as an in-house counsel, Mr. Parron was the CEO & creator of Ritmoteca.com, Inc., the pioneer legal platform for downloadable Latin music through the Internet and mobile networks. Credited as a trailblazer in the online music retail space, his company laid the groundwork for what is now the highly successful Apple iTunes business model. Mr. Parron was instrumental in shaping the framework for digital music distribution, having inked agreements with more than 60 leading independent record labels and securing exclusive digital rights to over 600,000 music tracks and videos, including the catalogs of iconic artists like Tito Puente, Marc Anthony, and Celia Cruz. His foresight and astute business acumen propelled his company to become the premier Latin music enterprise to sign digital distribution contracts with major record labels such as Sony Music, BMG Music, Warner Music Group, and Universal Music Group, establishing his reputation as a skilled negotiator. Leading Ritmoteca, he forged strategic partnerships with industry giants like Microsoft, AOL, Real Networks, Nokia, Motorola, MusicNet, and Napster. Mr. Parron expanded the company to 200 employees with branch offices in Europe, supported by private and institutional investors, including Bain Capital in Boston. Prior to Ritmoteca, Mr. Parron established Internet Marketing Consultants in 1994, providing consultancy services to global media brands such as MTV, Nickelodeon, and Discovery Channel.
