Biography

Deborah Austern Colson is a seasoned advisor, litigator, and appellate champion. Her legal practice centers on representing individuals facing federal and state criminal investigations and regulatory matters, including allegations related to securities violations, illicit trading activities, money laundering, fraud, violent offenses, and RICO cases. She has achieved positive results across various legal arenas, including securing multiple jury acquittals. Since 2012, Ms. Colson has been recognized in the New York edition of Super Lawyers for her expertise in white-collar crime and criminal defense. A graduate of Harvard Law School, she clerked for the Honorable Nina Gershon in the Eastern District of New York before establishing Colson Law PLLC. Prior to this, she co-founded Colson & Harris LLP and served as an assistant federal defender in the Eastern District of New York. Additionally, Ms. Colson played a pivotal role in the Law & Security Department at Human Rights First, overseeing the organization's Guantanamo monitoring program and actively engaging in discussions and publications on terrorism and national security issues. Admitted to practice law in New York State, she is also licensed to appear before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
