Biography

John Ned Lipsitz is a co-founding partner of the law firm Lipsitz, Ponterio & Comerford, LLC located in Buffalo, NY. He has been advocating for individuals afflicted with occupational illnesses such as asbestosis and mesothelioma since 1985. Prior to his role at the law firm, Mr. Lipsitz was a member of the teaching faculty at the Buffalo Law School of the State University of New York from 1981 to 1985. During this time, he provided instruction on legal representation for consumer debtors, occupational safety and health regulations, constitutional rights, habeas corpus, as well as courses on Research and Writing and Legal Ethics. From 1979 to 1981, he served as a legal counsel at the Buffalo Office of Prisoners’ Legal Services of New York. Over his extensive 41-year career, Mr. Lipsitz has handled a diverse range of cases including class actions protecting constitutional rights, securing lifetime health insurance for retired employees, wrongful termination disputes, HIV exposure claims, childhood lead poisoning cases, automobile accidents, medical negligence lawsuits, immigration matters, construction site injuries, workers' compensation claims, and radiation-induced cancer litigations. He notably represented the plaintiffs in the initial chronic beryllium disease cases in New York State. In addition to his courtroom experience, Mr. Lipsitz has prepared and presented numerous appeals before both state and federal appellate courts, and has managed hundreds of legal motions in New York State trial courts. He has successfully argued multiple appeals in New York’s highest appellate court. Mr. Lipsitz obtained his bachelor’s degree from Yale University and his Juris Doctor from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1979.
