Biography
Hailing from the Buffalo region, Mr. MacKay is a Canisius High School alumnus. After completing high school, he pursued his undergraduate studies at S.U.N.Y. Buffalo, graduating with honors and achieving "With High Distinction" in the psychology department. Transitioning to law school after a break, Mr. MacKay graduated with top honors on an accelerated schedule from S.U.N.Y. Buffalo Law School. During his time there, he engaged in various moot court competitions, including representing the institution in a national criminal law moot court event. Furthermore, Mr. MacKay undertook internships with the Hon. Timothy J. Drury at the New York State Supreme Court and completed a rigorous internship in the felony division of the San Diego County Public Defender’s office. In this role, he handled numerous court appearances, including actively participating in second-chairing a first-degree murder/cross-border kidnapping jury trial. Post law school, Mr. MacKay served as a law clerk at the Federal Public Defender’s office in Buffalo before taking up a position as a judicial law clerk for the Hon. Kathleen M. Tafoya at the United States District Court for the District of Colorado.
