Joseph Moreno, a former federal prosecutor, serves as a partner in Cadwalader's White Collar Defense and Investigations Group. With qualifications to practice law in the United States and as a solicitor in England and Wales, Mr. Moreno possesses significant experience in litigation and crisis management, navigating complex issues involving various regulatory bodies such as the U.S. Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the U.S. Department of Defense, as well as other national and international law enforcement agencies. His portfolio includes cases related to money laundering, cybersecurity incidents, securities fraud, insider trading, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the UK Bribery Act, and a range of criminal and civil matters. Mr. Moreno returned to Cadwalader after a tenure at the U.S. Department of Justice within the Counterterrorism Section of the National Security Division, where he specialized in investigating and prosecuting cases related to international money laundering, terrorist financing, material support, and structuring. Additionally, he served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, handling a diverse array of criminal cases and successfully presenting arguments before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Mr. Moreno's expertise extends to managing classified litigation under the Classified Information Procedures Act and overseeing government surveillance matters linked to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and the USA PATRIOT Act.
