Biography
Larry Cary is a Co-Founder of Cary Kane LLP. With close to 25 years of experience, he specializes in labor, employment, and employee benefits law. Larry has been actively involved in the American labor movement for more than 35 years. Before establishing his own firm, he held the position of senior partner in the labor department at Vladeck, Waldman, Elias & Engelhard, PC. representing unions and benefit plans for 17 years. Larry also previously served as the in-house general counsel for the Amalgamated Service and Allied Industries Joint Board, ACTWU, and its benefit plans. He is a licensed attorney in the State of New York and handles litigation in both New York and Federal courts. Larry is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second and Seventh Circuits, and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
Larry is actively involved in various organizations. Since 1983, he has been a member of the advisory board of the Robert F. Wagner Labor Archives, a well-respected labor history archives. Larry serves as the Treasurer of the Workers Defense League, Inc., offering free representation to individuals at unemployment compensation insurance hearings in New York City. He also provides pro bono counsel to the New York Committee on Occupational Safety and Health, a key organization in New York City advocating for safe workplaces. Larry previously held the position of President of the Cornell University Adjunct Faculty Federation, Local 4228, NYSUT, AFT, and was a delegate to the New York City Central Labor Council. He served on the Executive Board of the New York Labor History Association for a decade and was its President in 1985-1986. Larry's dedication led to Governor Mario M. Cuomo proclaiming May as "Labor History Month" in New York State in 1986.
