Biography
Jeffrey has been acknowledged annually by his colleagues as a New York “Super Lawyer” (ranking among the Top 25 in Westchester County), and chosen as one of US News & World Report’s “Best Attorneys in America” specializing in commercial litigation. He has also been appointed a lifelong member of “Distinguished Lawyers in America,” “The Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum,” and “Leading Trial Lawyers in America.” Jeffrey’s adaptability across a broad range of legal topics has resulted in his management of numerous high-profile, challenging cases. Among various instances, Jeffrey effectively led the defense in federal court for a boat manufacturer wrongly accused in the “Ethan Allen” incident on Lake George, where twenty individuals tragically perished, securing a summary judgment in favor of the client; pursued a $4.5 million jury decision in Columbia County against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI); presented arguments before the New Jersey Supreme Court in the groundbreaking consumer fraud class action, Lee v. Basic Research, leading to a unanimous 9-0 decision overturning the prior denials of class certification by lower courts; and advocated before the Massachusetts’ Supreme Judicial Court in the influential case of Tyler v. Michaels, which deemed the collection of personal identifying information in conjunction with retail credit card transactions as unlawful. Jeffrey is well-versed in courtroom proceedings, having successfully litigated a diverse range of cases to verdict, such as achieving a defense ruling for Madison Square Garden and Amtrak in a federal jury trial in the Eastern District of New York; securing a multi-million dollar jury award in a state court breach of contract lawsuit in White Plains; and prevailing in a nine-month real estate fraud arbitration in New York City resulting in a multimillion-dollar judgment. Jeffrey graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College, obtained his law degree from Columbia University School of Law, and commenced his legal career as a litigator at Cravath Swaine & Moore.
