Biography

Svetlana M. Eisenberg is a partner at the New York branch of Brewer, Attorneys & Counselors. Clients seek her expertise for their most crucial cases—situations where the stakes are significant, the challenges unique, and the risks substantial. With a talent for courtroom advocacy, Ms. Eisenberg is renowned for her representation in high-profile legal battles and intricate investigations that require strategic planning and unwavering determination. At Brewer, she has successfully represented clients in some of their most pivotal legal disputes. She recently acted as counsel for a non-profit organization in prominent multi-week trials against the New York Attorney General (NYAG). Through Brewer's effective courtroom representation, Ms. Eisenberg helped defeat the NYAG's request for an independent compliance monitor and secured the dismissal of the NYAG's corporate dissolution claims. Prior to joining Brewer, Ms. Eisenberg served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of New Jersey. She led high-stakes grand jury investigations and obtained convictions for white-collar crimes, such as investment fraud and aggravated identity theft. During her tenure as an AUSA, Ms. Eisenberg was involved in the prosecution of a significant computer hacking/securities fraud scheme. Ms. Eisenberg's broad experience encompasses: - High-stakes litigation: Advocating in complex commercial disputes, successfully challenging regulatory actions, and navigating risky legal issues on behalf of corporate clients. - Government and internal investigations: Representing major corporations and individuals in internal and governmental investigations, as well as enforcement actions by entities like the United States Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission. - Pro bono advocacy: Engaging in litigation, in collaboration with Legal Aid Society attorneys, on Section 1983 cases, including a class action, to protect the constitutional rights of women prisoners from abuse.
