Biography
Steven Fingerhut is a Partner at Phillips & Associates. He adopts a vigorous approach to advocating for his clients and takes pride in amplifying the voices of those who may otherwise go unheard. Mr. Fingerhut has secured over $10 Million in settlements for his clients in the last five years. Most notably, in January 2024, Steven Fingerhut secured a favorable verdict and a $260,000 award for his client following a successful trial involving hostile work environment, retaliation, and defamation claims in the Eastern District of New York. The case of Smart v. USA Labor for Hire, Inc., et al., Case No.: 1:20-cv-5594 (TAM) resulted in a jury decision that Ms. Smart was a victim of unlawful discrimination based on her sex and race, leading to her wrongful termination in retaliation for speaking out against harassment. In March 2022, Steven Fingerhut successfully litigated a sexual harassment case to a verdict in Queens County Supreme Court. He secured a unanimous jury decision in favor of his client, who had been employed by the Defendants for less than two weeks. The Defendants were found liable for sexual harassment, assault, battery, and wrongful constructive discharge of the Plaintiff in the case of Grant v. Pexie Enterprises, Inc. and Carl A. Lashley, Index No.: 704041/2015. On March 30, 2022, the jury awarded $112,000 in damages to the Plaintiff and dismissed the counterclaims filed against her. Noteworthy achievements by Steven Fingerhut also include a $900,000 settlement for an office manager facing severe sexual harassment, a $2,000,000 settlement for construction workers enduring pervasive race discrimination, and an $800,000 settlement for a C-Suite executive wrongfully terminated due to age-related reasons.
