Biography
Matthew Weinick is an employment attorney based in Long Island. Throughout his professional journey, Matt has been dedicated to advocating for the rights of his clients in the workplace, appearing before Federal and State Court judges as well as administrative law judges. He has litigated cases involving employment discrimination and retaliation before juries in Federal Court, represented clients in mediation and arbitration proceedings, and presented appeals before the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the New York Appellate Divisions, First and Second Departments. Matt's achievements have been acknowledged consistently by Super Lawyers Magazine, where he was recognized as a Rising Star for five consecutive years from 2012 to 2016, an honor reserved for less than 2.5 percent of attorneys in the state. Apart from his client-focused work, Matt actively contributes to the legal community. He has authored articles in the Nassau County Bar Association’s publication discussing developments in employment law, conducted a continuing legal education course on the fundamentals of employment law, and led a law school seminar titled “Foundational Lawyering Skills,” imparting trial advocacy techniques to second-year students at Hofstra Law School. In 2016, Matt was appointed as a Guest Lecturer at Hofstra Law. He is frequently sought after by peers for strategic and legal counsel, and was retained by another law firm specifically to handle an appeal at the Appellate Division, Second Department. Prior to joining forces with Pete, Matt served as a senior associate at a prominent Long Island firm specializing in employment discrimination, where he managed his own caseload and regularly handled the firm’s most intricate legal matters. Additionally, he held the position of Nassau County Deputy County Attorney, representing the County and its employees in civil rights lawsuits. Matt graduated cum laude from Hofstra University School of Law, where he also served as the Notes and Comments Editor of the Hofstra Labor and Employment Law Journal and published an article addressing workers' rights.
