Biography

After obtaining his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School, James R. Marsh advocates for individuals who have experienced sexual abuse in various settings such as schools, colleges, churches, government institutions, and the military. He specializes in cases involving campus sexual assault, rape, online sexual exploitation, child pornography, sextortion, and revenge porn. Recently, his involvement in a landmark case regarding compensation for victims of child pornography in federal criminal restitution proceedings resulted in a significant decision by the United States Supreme Court. This case, known as United States v. Paroline, played a key role in the passing of the Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act of 2018, which received unanimous approval from both the House and Senate before being signed into law by the President on December 7, 2018. James is the founder of the esteemed Children’s Law Center based in Washington, DC. He is a seasoned trial lawyer, a prominent voice in the legal community, and a prolific writer on issues related to children and victims of sexual abuse and exploitation. Currently, he heads the Marsh Law Firm in New York, a globally recognized practice that focuses on helping survivors of sexual abuse seek justice and rebuild their lives with dignity and compassion.
