Biography
Prior to starting his college education, Charles served in the United States Navy, gaining valuable experience both domestically and internationally. He utilized the G.I. Bill to pursue his academic goals, balancing his studies during the day with night shifts at a factory. While pursuing his law degree, Charles completed an internship at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, where he was involved in a complex insider trading case. He also interned with the U.S. Army Jag Corps Military Justice Unit, contributing to the prosecution of a high-profile double homicide case that garnered extensive media coverage. Following his graduation from law school, Charles joined the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, where he remained until 2018. During his tenure, he handled a diverse array of cases, including drug offenses, assaults, domestic violence incidents, tax-related crimes, sex crimes, thefts, robberies, burglaries, extortion schemes, and homicides, many of which attracted significant public interest. His extensive background in criminal law, acquired at one of the country’s most esteemed prosecutor's offices, equips him with a deep comprehension of the intricacies involved in defending individuals facing criminal charges, rendering him a formidable advocate and opponent. Charles's courtroom prowess is widely acknowledged by his peers and has led to his appointment as a coach for law students specializing in trial advocacy.
