James Winkler - Lawyer Profile

JAMES R. WINKLER is a partner at the law firm of Winkler, Kurtz & Winkler, LLP, located in Port Jefferson Station, New York. With over 35 years of experience, he has focused his legal practice on matrimonial and family law. Jim completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia and the State University of New York at Stony Brook, graduating cum laude in 1971. He earned his law degree from Albany Law School of Union University in 1976 and began his career as an associate at the law office of former Assemblyman Peter J. Costigan, Esq. He later became a partner in the firm known as Costigan and Winkler. Jim has been an active participant in the legal community, serving as the 100th President of the Suffolk County Bar Association. He has received the annual President’s Award and Director’s Award, and was recognized as the "Boss of the Year" by the National Association of Legal Secretaries of Suffolk County.
