Biography

Barbara J. King is a partner at Tully Rinckey PLLC, where she leads the Firm's Family and Matrimonial practice in New York State. She works out of the firm's offices in Albany, White Plains, Manhattan, Syracuse, Buffalo, and Rochester. Barbara obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the City University of New York at Queens College. Before joining Tully Rinckey PLLC, Barbara served as a key figure at a longstanding law firm in the Capital Region, specializing in Family and Matrimonial Law. Barbara has deep ties to the community, actively engaging with various professional and non-profit organizations through volunteer work. She is a dedicated member of the Capital District Women’s Bar Association, where she previously served as Treasurer and newsletter editor. Barbara is actively involved in legal organizations such as The Legal Project, where she educates litigants about their rights in Family Court and provides pro-bono representation. She also lends her support to domestic violence initiatives, participates in Legal Project clinics, and offers her services in matrimonial clinics for underprivileged individuals without charge. Barbara is a proud member of the New York State Bar Association and serves on the Board of the Schenectady County Bar Association, where she currently chairs the Pro Bono Committee. In this role, she spearheaded the Modest Means Panel Program, which offers discounted legal services to low-income litigants dealing with divorce and family law matters in Schenectady County. Barbara's dedication to community service has been recognized through several accolades, including the Suffolk County Pro Bono Award in 1994, the Capital District Women’s Bar Association Volunteer Attorney Award in 2001, the New York State Bar Association Pro Bono Award in 2004, the American Bar Association Difference Maker Award from the Solo/Small Practice Section in 2009, and the Schenectady County Bar Association's Lawyer of the Year award in 2010.
