Fees
- Free Consultation Generally I accept retainers for work to be billed on an hourly basis. However, in exceptional circumstances I will accept an assignment, such as an appeal, on a flat-fee basis. For Medical and Legal malpractice cases and matters involving personal injury I will usually accept a contingent fee arrangement with the understanding that the client is responsible for out-of-pocket expenses incurred during the pendency of the matter.
- Contingent Fees A usual contingent fee arrangement will limit attorney's fees to one-third of the ultimate recovery, if any. Should the claimant fail to recover a judgment or settlement then no attorney's fees will be due.

Biography
With more than 39 years of experience, William E. Betz offers a comprehensive range of legal services to individuals and small businesses in the New York Metropolitan area. His law office is situated in Nassau County, serving clients in the Long Island courts and the five Boroughs of New York City. William graduated with honors from New York Law School in 1983, where he was a member of the New York Law School Law Review. During his time in law school, he received the American Jurisprudence Award and achieved first place in the Nathan Burkan Copyright Competition. While pursuing his legal education in the evening division, he gained valuable experience as a law clerk at Cravath, Swaine & Moore. Upon graduation, he joined Weil, Gotshal & Manges in New York City. In 1987, he established his own law practice, briefly pausing to work at the law office of Raoul Felder from 1996 to 1997. Between 1999 and 2001, he served as an assistant attorney general in Saipan for the US Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
