Biography

Howard appeared before a judge for the first time in September of 1972 at the Criminal Court of the City of New York located at 100 Centre Street. For almost 46 years, he has been dedicated to representing individuals facing criminal charges. Howard honed his skills as a courtroom attorney during his tenure as a Senior Trial Attorney with the Legal Aid Society of the City of New York in Kings County. By the age of 26, he was actively litigating felony cases at the Supreme Court and achieving successful outcomes. Subsequently, he served as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the Office of the Special State Prosecutor for Nursing Homes, Health and Social Services. In this role, Howard supervised a team investigating and prosecuting "white collar" crimes involving fraudulent activities within the Medicaid health financing system. In 1981, Howard transitioned to private practice after a brief stint as an associate in a small law firm in Sullivan County. His desire for independence led him to establish his own practice, which he co-founded with a former colleague from the Legal Aid Society in New Windsor. Over the course of their ten-year partnership, Howard gained extensive experience in civil law, specializing in areas such as divorce and family law, contract disputes, real estate transactions, business negotiations, and general civil litigation. An aviation enthusiast since childhood, Howard fulfilled his lifelong dream of obtaining a private pilot license in 1994. He purchased a four-seat, single-engine aircraft in 1996, which he piloted across the eastern United States for over two decades. Howard furthered his aviation credentials by obtaining an instrument rating and currently owns and operates a 1946 Aeronca Champ, a classic tailwheel airplane based at the Orange County Airport.
