Biography
My primary focus is ensuring that the Government upholds its commitments, advocating for truthfulness from police officers, integrity from prosecutors, and fair treatment for my clients, even in cases where mistakes have been made. Peter E. Brill stands out as one of just two legal professionals in the entirety of New York State, and the sole practitioner in the New York metropolitan region, to hold certification from the National Board of Trial Advocacy in Criminal Law. This prestigious certification demands a high level of legal expertise and substantial experience in criminal trials. With close to two decades of legal practice under his belt, he boasts a wealth of trial experience in both state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration and administrative proceedings. He has built a strong rapport with state and federal prosecutors across New York and has navigated a wide array of administrative agencies. Peter has a track record of securing favorable outcomes for his clients, prevailing in a significant majority of cases across nearly all counties in the New York metropolitan area. He is a familiar presence in the courtrooms of Long Island and New York City, routinely meeting with clients either in court or at his office. His legal representation has encompassed the defense of numerous individuals facing charges, both misdemeanors and felonies, within New York State. Having previously served as an Assistant District Attorney, he now concentrates on criminal defense work and providing legal counsel to healthcare professionals and others entangled in investigations or disciplinary proceedings. Peter graduated cum laude from Brown University and obtained his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. He previously held a teaching position as an Adjunct Professor at the New York Institute of Technology. Since 2012, Peter has been consistently recognized by Super Lawyers as one of the premier criminal defense advocates in the New York metropolitan area, a distinction few achieve. Additionally, he has been named one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in New York by the National Trial Lawyers organization.
