Michael Benz - New York Lawyer

Michael T. Benz serves as an associate lawyer in the firm’s litigation division, specializing in cases involving personal injury, medical malpractice, and criminal defense. His approach and philosophy involve meticulously preparing each case as if it will proceed to a jury trial, firmly believing that thorough trial preparation is the cornerstone of achieving optimal outcomes for his clients. Prior to joining HoganWillig, Mr. Benz amassed extensive trial experience while working as an Assistant Defender at the renowned Defender Association of Philadelphia. Subsequently, he established his private criminal defense practice in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A native of Buffalo, he recently returned to Western New York to both raise his family and further his legal career. Mr. Benz graduated with honors from Drexel University's Thomas R. Kline School of Law, where he honed his trial advocacy skills as a member of the award-winning mock trial team. He clinched the top honors at the Texas Young Lawyer's Association Regional Competition two consecutive years, earning the title of Best Advocate on both occasions. Following graduation, Michael became one of the pioneer alumni to join the mock trial coaching faculty as an adjunct professor. He holds licenses to practice law in New York and Pennsylvania and is an active member of the New York State Bar, the Erie County Bar Association, and the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
