Biography
I joined the Law Office of Stephen M. Cohen while completing Law School in the evenings. As a legal assistant, I prepared motions and legal documents, and conducted thorough legal analysis, concentrating on insurance, accountability, medical, and healthcare matters. Upon gaining admission to the bar, I advanced to become an associate at the firm, advocating for individuals with severe injuries, healthcare institutions, and medical professionals. Progressing to the position of Junior Partner, I supervised the firm's team of legal assistants and investigators. Currently, as a principal partner, I specialize in Personal Injury, Insurance Law, Products Liability, Lead Paint Poisoning, and Public Entity Accountability. I oversee the activities of six associate attorneys and the entire support staff of the firm. I regularly engage with major Insurance Companies such as Allstate, State Farm, and numerous others, focusing on legal aspects concerning accident accountability and the unjust refusal of medical payments to healthcare providers in no-fault scenarios. I provide guidance to healthcare providers and facilities of varying sizes on matters spanning from management agreements to debt collections to liability. I also handle cases involving severe personal injuries. Furthermore, I lead the firm's Bankruptcy Division. Recognizing the complexities and strains associated with the bankruptcy process, I am committed to being directly available to my clients 24/7. I acknowledge that individuals may struggle to meet creditor demands and advocate that bankruptcy laws are intended for absolution, not punishment. Bankruptcy should not carry a negative connotation. While there is a plethora of bankruptcy attorneys to choose from, I believe that selecting a 'competent' attorney is about preventing unforeseen complications. When it concerns bankruptcy, my team and I comprehend the nuances and ensure that it is handled correctly. In the rare moments of free time that I manage to find, I volunteer as a Firefighter and Medic (AEMT-CC) for the Jericho Fire Department and Brentwood Legion Ambulance.
