Biography
Steve brings a wealth of diverse experience in the field of education. Before entering law school, he dedicated seven years to teaching high school mathematics in New York. He holds an M.S.Ed. from Hofstra University and pursued studies in philosophy and politics at The George Washington University and Pembroke College, Oxford University. Steve obtained his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, where he held key roles such as Executive Development Editor of the Michigan Law Review, Vice President of the Education Law and Policy Society, and Event Coordinator for Legal Advocates for Children and Youth. Additionally, Steve spent his final semester at Columbia Law School, serving as a student educational consultant conducting research and analysis in New York City schools for Columbia’s Center for Public Research and Leadership.
Before founding The Law Office of Steven Alizio, PLLC, Steve specialized in special education law at the Special Education Unit of the New York Legal Assistance Group ("NYLAG") and a New York City-based special education law firm. His advocacy includes guiding students and parents through the IEP and hearing processes, as well as contributing to a federal class-action lawsuit against a large charter organization and the New York City Department of Education. Steve has also conducted special education training sessions for various professionals in New York City.
