Biography
Nancy Burner is the Co-Founder and Partner of Burner Prudenti Law, a women-led firm specializing in trust & estates and elder law, which was established in 1995. She is also a Co-Creator of Mediation Solutions of NY, the first comprehensive mediation and arbitration service in Suffolk County. With close to thirty years of experience, Nancy is renowned as a leading elder law and trust & estates lawyer in New York. She is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA), a prestigious designation granted by the National Elder Law Foundation in association with the American Bar Association. Nancy has been consistently recognized in Best Lawyers in America for Elder Law since 2014 and was honored as the "Lawyer of the Year" for Elder Law on Long Island in 2025, 2023, and 2020. She has been named a Super Lawyer in Elder Law for seventeen consecutive years and listed as a Top 50 Women Attorney in New York for five years in a row. Nancy served five terms as a trustee for the Lawyers’ Fund for Client Protection, an agency established in 1981 to safeguard clients from financial misconduct by attorneys and bolster public trust in the legal system of New York. She previously held the position of president at the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association and co-chair of the Suffolk County Elder Law Committee. In 2022, Nancy was inducted into the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University’s Inaugural Hall of Fame, recognizing her among the first 50 inductees. The Hall of Fame was established to celebrate alumni whose exceptional careers, remarkable contributions to society, or outstanding service to the Law School have significantly impacted the Hofstra Law community and beyond.
