Biography

ADAM T. KLEIN is the Managing Partner at Outten & Golden LLP and is the founder of the firm's class action division. He specializes in litigating class actions and impactful cases related to employment discrimination and wage and hour disputes. Mr. Klein is currently leading or co-leading as plaintiffs' counsel in various prominent class action lawsuits concerning discrimination issues within the financial services and high tech sectors, as well as legal challenges to the use of credit and criminal history in employment screenings. He represents the Metropolitan Council of the New York State Conference of the NAACP in legal battles against the use of criminal history records in employment screenings. Additionally, Mr. Klein serves as co-lead plaintiffs' class counsel in successfully settled nationwide discrimination class actions against Smith Barney (gender - Amochaev v. Smith Barney), Bank of America/Merrill Lynch (gender – Calibuso v. Bank of America), and Morgan Stanley (race - Jaffe v. Morgan Stanley). These settlements have not only provided significant financial compensation to class members but have also brought about systematic changes in company policies. Mr. Klein also played a key role as co-lead plaintiffs' class counsel in a gender discrimination class action against MetLife, addressing issues of discrimination in promotions and compensation, resulting in a settlement that led to positive changes within the company. Furthermore, Mr. Klein holds the position of Co-Chair at the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.
