Biography

With a successful track record, Mr. Raisner achieved favorable outcomes in the U.S. Supreme Court for a 2,000-member employee class in the case of Czyzewski v. Jevic Holding Corporation. This pivotal decision curtailed the practice of employers circumventing wage obligations during bankruptcy proceedings, bolstering the rights of priority creditors. The renowned WARN Practice Group, under his leadership, was honored as the "Bankruptcy Practice Group of the Year" by Law360, following this groundbreaking ruling. Specializing in employment law since 1991, he actively pursues class actions related to the WARN Act and wage disputes nationwide. Additionally, he has provided legal representation in various discrimination and wrongful termination cases and has presented arguments before the U.S. Court of Appeals in the Second, Third, and Fifth Circuits. Mr. Raisner is the author of the Pregnancy Discrimination and Parental Leave Handbook (2000) and has contributed numerous chapters and articles on employment law topics. He currently holds the position of Professor of Law at the Tobin College of Business, St. John’s University. Mr. Raisner completed his B.S. degree at Boston University in 1978 and earned his J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1983.
