Biography

With over three decades of experience, John Howley has a proven track record of advocating for clients involved in employment disputes and those acting as whistleblowers pursuing legal protections and financial rewards. His accomplishments include:- Securing an $80 million settlement in a class action lawsuit for race discrimination against Sodexho Marriott;- Winning a labor arbitration case resulting in higher raises for NYC police officers compared to firefighters for the first time in a century; and- Achieving a $3.2 million settlement in a prevailing wage lawsuit representing nurses from the Philippines.Mr. Howley graduated from Skidmore College and obtained his law degree, graduating magna cum laude, from New York Law School where he served as the Articles Editor of the Law Review. During his time in law school, he interned for U.S. District Judges Kevin Thomas Duffy and Shira A. Scheindlin. Following graduation, he clerked for U.S. Circuit Judge Roger J. Miner at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.He has been honored with the Medal for Excellence in Advocacy from the American College of Trial Lawyers, The Thurgood Marshall Award from the New York City Bar Association, and the Gideon Champion of Justice Award from the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
