Stephen D. Hans is a seasoned Employment Defense Lawyer based in Queens County, New York, with a legal career spanning over 35 years. He started his practice at a general litigation firm in New York City back in 1977. In 1979, he successfully represented a NYCTA bus operator who had been suspended for refusing to operate an unsafe bus, leading to the operator's reinstatement. This achievement caught the attention of the bus operator's union in Queens and Staten Island, who then appointed Mr. Hans as their General Counsel for all employment and labor-related issues.
In 1980, during a period of strikes by both subway and bus unions in New York City, Mr. Hans played a crucial role as the General Counsel, not only in collective bargaining negotiations but also in legal proceedings before the New York Supreme Court. His representation prevented union leaders from facing jail time and reduced financial penalties imposed by the court.
