Biography
Lawrence D. O'Neill was born in Granite City, Illinois to Lawrence Frederick O'Neill, a highly decorated Irish-American fighter pilot and ace, and Dorothy Lee Breckenridge, a member of the renowned American Breckenridge family. His formative years were spent on various naval bases where his father was stationed. He completed his secondary education at St. Aloysius School in Malta and earned a degree in Economics from the University of Maryland. During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Army in the Army Security Agency, with an assignment to the National Security Agency (NSA). Lawrence later obtained his law degree from the University of Baltimore and held senior government roles in the White House and the Department of Commerce. After departing from government service in 1981, he began his legal career in private practice with Fenwick, Davis, Stone, and West, subsequently becoming a partner at Winston and Strawn. He later relocated to Europe, serving as Secretary General to SITA in Paris before establishing his own firm with offices in Dublin and New York. Lawrence D.
