Biography
Bringing over three decades of legal experience to the table, Matthew E. Mitchell, Esq., a seasoned Senior Counsel at Tully Rinckey PLLC's Buffalo office, has adeptly represented individuals, municipalities, and businesses in civil litigation cases throughout New York State and Massachusetts. His clientele has spanned a diverse range, including high-profile entities like Consolidated Edison in significant property damage disputes, AMF Bakery Systems in asbestos-related legal challenges, and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Institute in employment law issues. Matthew has successfully defended both individuals and corporations, working closely with their insurance providers, handling cases ranging from personal injury claims resulting from auto accidents to complex Superfund cost recovery lawsuits. He possesses a Master's Degree in Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School, complementing his extensive practice in negotiating with state and local authorities on behalf of property owners dealing with oil and hazardous materials contamination, as well as facilitating transactions involving environmentally compromised "brownfields" properties. Additionally, he has provided invaluable counsel to clients navigating the regulatory landscape to secure wetlands permits for projects such as the restoration of coastal residences post-natural disasters. Matthew's community involvement includes a tenure on the Scituate, Massachusetts Conservation Commission and ongoing engagement in youth lacrosse coaching and charitable initiatives in his hometown of Buffalo, New York.
