Biography
Cooper J Macco is a native Long Islander. Mr. Macco completed his education at Cold Spring Harbor High School in 2004. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in 2008. In 2012, Mr. Macco graduated from St. John's University School of Law and was licensed to practice law in New York in February 2013. He is authorized to practice in the Eastern and Southern District of New York. During his legal education, Mr. Macco concentrated on areas such as debt collection, insolvency, restructuring, and bankruptcy. He received accolades including the CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in Real Property, Creditor's Rights, and Professional Responsibility, along with a Dean's Award for Excellence in Personal Federal Income Taxation. Mr. Macco consistently made the Dean's List for five semesters and graduated cum laude. Following graduation, he gained experience working with an Eastern and Southern District Chapter 7 Panel Trustee, where he managed asset recovery for the Debtor's estate through various legal avenues. Mr. Macco participated in numerous bankruptcy mediation sessions, successfully recovering assets for the estate without resorting to trial. He also oversaw corporate restructuring and sales under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code. In 2014, Mr. Macco joined Macco Law Group, LLP, his father's bankruptcy practice. Since then, he has specialized in representing consumers in chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcies, as well as providing foreclosure defense services for borrowers. In addition to consumer advocacy, Mr. Macco has represented chapter 11 debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, and has continued to assist chapter 7 trustees in the Eastern District of New York. Mr. Macco is also a certified Part 36 Eligible Receiver for Suffolk and Nassau Counties.
