Biography

Jennifer P Stergion, Esq. served as the inaugural Chair of the Erie County Bar Association's Committee on Legal Issues for Veterans and Servicemembers. She currently holds the position of Secretary for this Bar Association Committee and is a member of the Bar's Committee on Family Law Practice and Procedure. Jennifer holds a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Psychology, a Master's degree in Criminal Justice, and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) with dual emphases in International Law and Civil Litigation. She is licensed to practice law before the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, is an accredited attorney with the Department of Veterans Affairs, and is admitted to the Appellate Division, 4th Department of the State of New York. Recognized with the 2008 Erie County Volunteer Lawyer's Project Attorney of the Morning Pro Bono Award and the 2009 New York State Bar Association President's Award for Young Lawyer Pro Bono Service, Jennifer is dedicated to offering pro bono legal assistance to marginalized communities, particularly in the realms of veterans' rights and housing law. She was also honored with the 2007 New York State Bar Association Law School Ethics award. Jennifer has voluntarily conducted Continuing Legal Education (CLE) seminars on Veterans Benefits in Monroe and Erie Counties. As a sole practitioner, she sits on the Board of Directors for the Western New York Veterans Housing Coalition, acts as a co-mentor for the University at Buffalo School of Law Armed Forces Student Organization, and is actively engaged with her parish council. Jennifer makes her home in Buffalo, New York, with her daughter, Valerie.
