Biography

Michael joined Gold and Gold in September 2021 following his family's decision to relocate back to Western New York from the Adirondacks. Prior to this, Michael accumulated nearly two decades of experience in Medicaid Planning, Elder Law, and Estate and Trust planning at one of the State's leading elder law and special needs law firms. In June 2022, Michael teamed up with Michael A. Gold to establish Gold and Dezik, Attorneys at Law. "After spending two years confined indoors, it became evident that being near family was crucial, especially with our two young children. I take pride in being a part of such a vibrant and long-established legal practice and am eager to share my expertise and background in the place I grew up and call home." ~ Michael D. Dezik Michael is a graduate of Albany Law School after attaining his Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from State University of New York at Buffalo's Media Studies Program. Michael serves as the co-Vice Chair of the Elder Law and Special Needs Section Legislative Committee with the New York State Bar Association, in addition to having previously co-chaired the Medicaid Committee of the New York State Bar Association's Elder Law and Special Needs Section. He also has a history of leadership roles, having been the Past President of the Estate Planning Council of Eastern New York, Past President of NearCare, Inc. - a local non-profit organization offering respite care for family caregivers and those in need of care themselves, and Past Vice President of the Conkling Center Board of Directors - a local non-profit providing safety net services to at-risk seniors. Michael holds an "AV" rating from Martindale Hubbell - the highest rating for expertise and ethics awarded by the independent rating service of the legal profession. "Elder and special need issues are often overlooked, and it is crucial that individuals are aware of their rights in an increasingly complex system. I am honored to be part of a practice dedicated to delivering these essential services."
