Biography

I became part of Her Justice in 2008 and currently oversee a dedicated team that includes in-house attorneys, pro bono coordinators, and volunteer lawyers. Together, we offer guidance, legal support services, and no-cost legal representation to financially disadvantaged women in New York City. Our main areas of focus are matrimonial, family law, and immigration cases under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). My responsibilities involve training and guiding approximately 90 volunteer lawyers from more than 20 law firms on managing immigration cases with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS), creating legal strategies, and keeping abreast of legal and procedural changes. In addition, I design and execute Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs for these volunteers, directly represent 10-20 internal clients on immigration issues, handle a caseload of 50-60 clients seeking pro bono representation and advice, and collaborate with advocates and other community organizations to offer comprehensive legal and social services to our clients. After completing law school, I served as an Equal Justice Works Fellow at the Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center in Washington D.C. Prior to joining Her Justice, I worked as the Supervising Attorney at the Courtroom Advocates Project within Sanctuary for Families, Center for Battered Women’s Legal Services. I obtained a B.A. in Politics from Pomona College in 1997 and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law in 2004. I am licensed to practice law in New York, Virginia, and California.
