Biography
Irene Vaisman completed her undergraduate studies in Political Science at the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2001. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor degree from New York Law School in 2004. During her academic years, Irene engaged in multiple internships and legal initiatives, gaining valuable experience in criminal and civil immigration matters, as well as understanding the intersection of immigration law with other legal areas. Her initial pro bono cases focused on assisting undocumented children with various illnesses, a cause that continues to drive her legal practice. Following law school, Irene dedicated seven years to practicing at well-regarded law firms specializing in immigration law. She has effectively represented a diverse clientele from around the globe, advocating for both immigrant and non-immigrant benefits, as well as relief from removal and deportation. Her practice encompasses a wide range of immigration law aspects, such as representing clients in removal proceedings, handling appeals, and filing Motions to Reopen and Reconsider with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Immigration Court, and the Board of Immigration Appeals. Irene also deals with Naturalization issues, Violence Against Women Act cases, asylum and I-601 Waivers, and more recently I-601A Provisional Waivers, assisting families in achieving positive outcomes. Irene comes from a lineage of attorneys, with both her mother and grandfather practicing law in the former Soviet Union. Having immigrated to the United States in 1992 to escape persecution, Irene's personal immigration journey enables her to empathize with her clients, offering tailored and thorough legal representation. She frequently appears as a guest speaker on local radio and television programs and actively participates in professional organizations like the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the New York State Bar Association.
