William James O'Mahony - Profile

After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, William J. O’Mahony launched his legal career in South Bend, Indiana. There, he focused on defending insured policyholders facing product liability, general liability, and employment discrimination claims. He also represented insurance carriers in litigation related to insurance coverage and bad faith. Bill then returned to his hometown of New York in 1996 and joined a prominent national law firm as an associate. In this role, he handled the investigation and defense/prosecution of intricate corporate and commercial claims, such as contract disputes, unfair competition cases, trade secret conflicts, and restrictive covenant litigation. He also managed corporate dissolution proceedings, employment disputes, as well as defended professional liability and municipal liability claims. Subsequently, he became a partner at a specialized litigation firm, representing individuals and corporations in insurance coverage disputes, as well as corporate and commercial litigation. Bill’s legal practice at Paneth & O’Mahony encompasses all facets of litigation and consulting within the insurance and commercial litigation practice groups. He has delivered lectures and authored educational materials on insurance law for the New York State Bar Association and various continuing legal education programs. Bill has also shared his expertise as a guest lecturer at Touro Law School on topics related to law practice management and risk management for law firms. Recognized for his outstanding legal abilities and ethical standards, Bill holds an “AV Preeminent” rating from Martindale Hubbell, the highest possible rating in both categories. Additionally, he is a distinguished lifetime member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, which acknowledges lawyers in the U.S. who have achieved multi-million dollar verdicts, awards, or settlements.
