Barry S. Kantrowitz, B.A., J.D., earned his bachelor's degree from Harpur College, SUNY Binghamton. While studying at Boston University School of Law, he was recognized as a Paul J. Liacos Scholar and an Edward Henessey Scholar. He graduated with honors. Mr. Kantrowitz is licensed to practice law in the state and federal courts of New York, New Jersey, and Florida, and is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. Barry Kantrowitz is a member of the New York State and New Jersey State Trial Lawyers Associations, as well as the State Bar Associations of New York, New Jersey, and Florida. He has presented lectures to university students at Brandeis and Boston Universities and has conducted classes to educate aspiring lawyers. A second-generation Kantrowitz, he oversees the daily operations of the firm's non-matrimonial litigation department, handling civil, negligence, criminal, and corporate cases. His focus primarily revolves around preparing and litigating cases related to personal injury, professional malpractice, corporate, and complex commercial disputes. Notably, in 1988, Barry secured a $9.2 million jury verdict following the tragic deaths of two teenagers at a construction site, marking the largest verdict of its kind in Rockland County at the time. Barry has successfully represented both individual claimants and large corporate clients in intricate legal battles. He notably defended Tyco International in a $40 million claim against a fire suppression subsidiary. Barry's expertise has been sought by companies of all sizes for representation in complex legal matters. Two of Barry's noteworthy trials resulted in favorable outcomes for individual clients challenging formidable corporate entities. In Vesco vs. North Star Steel, Barry obtained a Federal judgment exceeding $1.5 million against a subsidiary of Cargill Incorporated, one of the world's largest privately held companies. In Boyajian vs. C&R Realty, Barry represented a minority shareholder who was granted over $600,000 based on oppressive behavior by the majority. In 2008, Barry secured a jury verdict exceeding $1,000,000 for a client in a case involving a fall. Barry is deeply involved in various civic and charitable organizations. He previously served as the president of JCC Rockland and played a pivotal role in the organization's acquisition of its new 135,000 square foot facility in West Nyack. Barry sits on the board of the JCC Association of North America, the primary agency for the Jewish Community Center Movement in the U.S. and Canada. He has held officer positions on the Rockland Community College Foundation Board and has received recognition from numerous civic groups for his contributions. Email: bkantrowitz@kgglaw.com
