Biography

With over three decades of experience, Amie has specialized in estate and succession planning, as well as intricate probate and estate administration. Amie provides counsel to affluent clients, often spanning multiple generations, on sophisticated estate planning strategies with a focus on estate, gift, generation-skipping transfer, and income tax planning. Amie is a highly requested presenter on various estate planning subjects, having delivered talks on ethical challenges faced by Trusts and Estate Practitioners at the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) and the National Business Institute. She has also addressed legal professionals and accountants at the UJA Federation Endowment Foundation on the topic of charitable trusts and presented on Surrogate’s Court procedures for the New York State Trial Lawyers’ Association. Amie holds an esteemed peer review rating as a top-tier lawyer ("AV" rated) by Martindale-Hubbell. She is an active member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Real Property Trusts and Estate Law Section of the American Bar Association, and the Trusts and Estates Law Section of the New York State Bar Association. Amie launched her career in Manhattan at a specialized intellectual property law firm, where she managed the firm’s estate planning and contested probate cases, aiding renowned visual artists and their families in transferring their distinctive property rights and legacies across generations. In 1986, Amie returned to her native New Jersey to become one of the founding partners at Gartenberg Howard, LLP, a law firm located in Bergen County, New Jersey and New York City that focuses on nursing home abuse and neglect, malpractice, estate and probate law, and business litigation.
