Biography

Matthew F. Schwartz earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia in 1988 and his Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law in 1991. He is a member of the New York State Bar. Matthew's legal practice covers a wide range of civil litigation areas, with a primary focus on legal malpractice. He commenced his career as an Assistant District Attorney at the Manhattan District Attorney's office, where he gained significant trial experience in various criminal cases. Subsequently, he became a civil litigator specializing in professional liability, premises liability, surety and subrogation litigation, and securities litigation at the law firm of Jones Hirsch Connors & Bull. From 1996 to 2005, Matthew practiced at Siller Wilk LLP, handling diverse civil litigation matters, with a strong emphasis on attorney malpractice. In 2005, he co-established Schwartz & Ponterio, PLLC with partner John Ponterio. Throughout his legal career, Matthew has brought his trial experience to bear on both civil and criminal cases.
