Biography

Michael V. Kaplen is a respected Legal Scholar at The George Washington University Law School where he instructs the sole course nationwide dedicated to traumatic brain injury law. Michael is an esteemed member of the New York State Traumatic Brain Injury Services Coordinating Council, having served as council chair from 2007 to 2013 and again from 2019 to 2021. He holds the prestigious position of president at the American Academy of Brain Injury Attorneys. Michael holds dual certifications as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and as a specialist in medical malpractice by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. Michael was an esteemed guest and participant at the 2014 White House Healthy Kids & Safe Sports Concussion Summit. He has held the title of Vice President at the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers and remains an active member on their board of directors. Additionally, he sits on the Board of Governors at the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys and has previously served on the Board of Directors of the Melvin M. Belli Society.
