Biography
Lawyer Richard W. Young hails from Long Island. He completed his undergraduate studies at Long Island University, C.W. Post College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction. Following his college years, Young served as an officer in the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, earning recognition with the Jack P. Finnerty Award for Academic Excellence. Transitioning to fulfill his aspiration, Young joined the New York City Police Department, where he excelled as a distinguished police officer, graduating within the top percentile of his academy class. During his tenure, he held roles in esteemed divisions such as the Tactical Patrol Force, Street Crime Unit, and the Organized Control Bureau Narcotics Division, making numerous significant and widely reported arrests. Achieving the rank of police sergeant in 1985, he was subsequently appointed as the Supervisor of the Midtown South Precinct Anti-Crime Unit in 1986. Unfortunately, his law enforcement career was cut short in 1988 due to a severe injury sustained in the line of duty, leading to his premature retirement. Subsequently, Young pursued legal studies at St. John’s School and gained admission to the New York State Courts. Establishing his own legal practice, Attorney Young has successfully managed a myriad of legal cases for his clientele, leveraging his extensive experience, expertise, and resources for their benefit.
