Biography

Deborah is a practicing attorney working independently in Ithaca, NY, while also maintaining her practice in NJ. Her legal work primarily involves handling estate administration, estate planning, and real estate transactions. Prior to her current role, she was a partner at Miller and Miller law firm in Chenango County, served as staff counsel for the Chenango County Department of Social Services, and worked as an editor at Gann Law Books, a legal treatise publishing company based in NJ. Before relocating to NY in 1996, she worked as an associate at Garrigle and Palm, a NJ firm specializing in insurance defense, particularly in construction defect, products liability, insurance coverage, and professional malpractice defense. Following law school, Deborah served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Donald A. Smith, Jr. at the Superior Court of New Jersey (Civil Division) and also worked as a teaching assistant for a tax course at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing, China. Deborah earned her law degree from Rutgers University School of Law in Camden, NJ in 1989, where she was recognized with the American Jurisprudence Award for Real Estate Conveyancing. She was a member of the American Inn of Court #111-The Camden Inn from 1990 to 1992. Currently, Deborah is an active member of the Tompkins County Bar Association, serves as the CLE Chair for the Finger Lakes Women’s Bar Association, and is affiliated with the New York State Bar Association, specifically the Trusts & Estates and Elder Law Sections.
