Biography

Michael J. Stachowski is an experienced litigator, with a strong background in criminal defense. He has successfully handled a wide range of criminal cases, including DWI, misdemeanors, felonies such as burglary, robbery, rape, murder, assault, white-collar crimes, as well as federal cases involving immigration fraud, drug and gun conspiracies, RICO, sex trafficking, and white-collar offenses. In addition to his defense work, he has a proven track record as an appellate attorney in both state and federal courts. Notably, he secured the release of an individual after 18 years due to ineffective trial representation. Michael also has extensive experience in family law, handling divorce, custody, relocation, support, and financial matters. Beyond criminal and family law, he has successfully litigated personal injury, medical malpractice, business dissolution, estate, and probate cases. Prior to private practice, Michael served as a Confidential Clerk to Supreme Court Justice Kasler and held positions as town prosecutor and Town Attorney in Cheektowaga for two decades, handling tax certiorari, zoning cases, and appeals. He is a graduate of Canisius College Buffalo Law School and holds a Distinguished Peer rating from Martindale. Recognized as one of the top 100 Criminal Lawyers in New York by the National Trial Lawyers annually since 2020, he is also a member of the Distinguished Lawyers of America in Criminal Defense. Outside of his legal practice, Michael is an Eagle Scout and serves as the Advancement Chair for the GNF Council of the Boy Scouts.
