With over five decades of experience in the legal field, Michael Rikon has been an esteemed member of the New York State Bar since 1969. His professional journey commenced as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of New York, a role he held from 1969 to 1973, during which he excelled as a senior trial attorney in the Condemnation Division. Following this, from 1973 to 1980, Mike served as a law clerk to the Honorable Albert A. Blinder of the New York State Court of Claims. In 1980, he ventured into private practice, focusing on condemnation law, real estate, and litigation in the Court of Claims, before co-founding what is now recognized as Goldstein, Rikon, Rikon & Houghton, P.C. in 1994. Throughout his career, Mike has been actively involved in shaping eminent domain laws, having served as a special consultant to the New York State Commission on Eminent Domain in 1973 and 1974, contributing to the drafting of New York’s Eminent Domain Procedure Law. A sought-after speaker, he regularly presents on eminent domain law, property valuation, and regulatory takings at various forums in New York, across the nation, and globally. Furthermore, his insights on condemnation law are frequently featured in professional and legal publications.
