Biography

Samantha Plesser recently completed her Master of Science in Public Policy and Management from The New School of Public Engagement. She is a practicing attorney in New York City with over five years of experience managing labor and employment risks within government and corporate affairs teams in the consumer goods, retail, and professional services industries. Samantha holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Brown University and a Juris Doctorate from Cornell Law School. Her expertise includes conducting research and writing on regulatory policy, analyzing return on investment (ROI), and enhancing involvement in human rights, justice, and supply chain matters. Recognizing the importance of focusing on public policy to make a significant impact in areas she is passionate about, including corporate sustainability and business ethics, Samantha pursued additional studies for an MS in Management & Public Policy. She has demonstrated her commitment to social issues through her pro bono work with organizations such as the Open Society, the UN Department of Economic & Social Affairs, and Legal Aid Society. Samantha recently served as a Net Impact Service Corps Consultant, where she developed a strategic plan for the nonprofit No Strings Attached to expand its market presence in the US. Additionally, she participated in a pilot program with Acumen and Net Impact, utilizing Human-Centered Design (HCD) to address real-world challenges. Following her graduation from Cornell Law School, Samantha worked as an associate at Liddle & Robinson, LLP, handling regulatory, compliance, and labor cases for investment banks and hedge funds during the financial crisis. She played a key role in over ten trials and received the New York State Rising Star Award in February 2013, recognizing her as one of the top 1% of attorneys in New York State with less than ten years of practice. Samantha is also a published author, having contributed to more than 30 journals on labor rights.
