Biography
Sandra P. Lahens is a partner at Lax, Neville & Intelisano, LLP. Sandra specializes in advocating for businesses and individuals in commercial litigation and arbitration concerning securities and investment conflicts, employment issues, and regulatory inquiries. She has effectively resolved cases through arbitration and mediation at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”), the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”), JAMS, and has litigated in federal and state courts, including handling appeals before the New York Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the New York State Appellate Division. Sandra serves clients nationwide in customer sales practice disputes against their registered representatives, broker dealers, and registered investment advisors in arbitration proceedings before FINRA and AAA. Notably, in a particular case, the FINRA arbitration panel granted her client, a former professional athlete, the complete amount of his net out-of-pocket losses, as well as all requested attorneys' fees and costs.
Sandra also boasts extensive experience in general commercial litigations, including cases related to defamation. In a recent matter, Sandra successfully defended a prominent New York City restaurant and its manager against allegations of age discrimination and defamation by a former employee. Her expertise further extends to representing clients in the litigation of employment-related issues. She advocates for professionals in the financial industry facing disputes such as compensation disagreements, negotiation of promissory notes, handling Form U-4 and U-5 negotiations, and expungements. Additionally, Sandra handles cases involving employment discrimination claims, wrongful termination, whistleblower lawsuits, violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act, wage and hour disputes, and negotiates severance agreements. Sandra also guides registered representatives through transitions or moves between brokerage firms, addressing Broker Protocol concerns.
