Biography
Karen Ford Edler is the creator of the Price, Meese, Shulman & D'Arminio, P.C. Education Law Group. She champions for parents and students to secure a complimentary, suitable public education for students with disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (“IDEA”), Section 504 & associated statutes. Ms. Edler's offerings encompass assessing Individual Education Plans (“IEP”) & Section 504 Plans, participating in meetings and initiating due process petitions when necessary. Ms. Edler advocates for students with any educational concerns including academic challenges, school disciplinary cases, bullying incidents, and college academic and disciplinary issues. Ms. Edler manages special needs planning, Special Needs Trusts, guardianship applications & social security appeals. Ms. Edler is a part of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s School Law Committee & the New Jersey Special Education Practitioners group. Ms. Edler volunteers as an attorney and guide for Volunteer Lawyers for Justice. In 2019, Ms. Edler served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert E. Hamer, J.S.C. Ms. Edler achieved her law degree, with honors, from New York Law School & held the position of Managing Editor of the NYLS Journal of International and Comparative Law. Ms. Edler is an honors graduate of Dickinson College. Ms. Edler also practices in commercial real estate, corporate transactions & commercial leasing. Ms. Edler served as the Public Defender in a local municipality. Ms. Edler is licensed to practice law in New Jersey, the District Court of New Jersey, the Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the District Court of the Southern District of New York, the Tax Court, and the US Supreme Court.
