Biography
Elena defends individuals and businesses accused of serious federal offenses such as wire/mail fraud, securities and bank fraud, money laundering, violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), insurance fraud, federal tax violations, cybercrimes, and narcotics and weapons trafficking. In state courts, Elena represents clients facing charges related to financial crimes, attempted homicide, sexual offenses, child exploitation, drug and firearm possession, and violent attacks. Previously, Elena served as a Felony Assistant District Attorney at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, New York, where she managed numerous cases from filing to resolution. Over her six-year tenure at the District Attorney’s Office, Elena handled investigations and prosecutions across a broad spectrum of criminal activities, successfully litigating numerous cases from minor offenses to severe felonies. While prosecuting cases in Brooklyn, Elena was involved in several high-profile trials, including the prosecution of Nikolai Rakossi, known as the “Russian Rambo.” Elena pursued her legal education at New York Law School's evening division, actively participating in Moot Court competitions. During her law school years, Elena worked as an investigator for the U.S. Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration, focusing on uncovering fraud, embezzlement, and mismanagement within employer-sponsored healthcare and pension plans. Elena graduated top of her class from the College of Management at the University of Massachusetts Boston and also studied at Said Business School at the University of Oxford as part of her undergraduate program. Elena is proficient in the Russian language. She is licensed to practice law by the State Bar of New York, the State Bar of New Jersey, the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and various United States District Courts, including SDNY, EDNY, NDNY, WDNY, DNJ, and NDIL.
