Biography
Madelyn, a native of Syracuse, was raised in the region and completed her education at Liverpool High School. She pursued her higher studies at Le Moyne College, majoring in political science and minoring in legal studies, criminology, and philosophy. Madelyn actively engaged in Le Moyne College’s Integral Honors Program, where she conducted thorough research, authored, and successfully defended her honors thesis titled “The Realm of the Incarcerated and the Foundation of Racial Disparities: The Phenomenon of Mass Incarceration in the United States.” Graduating with the highest distinction, summa cum laude, from the Honors Program, Madelyn's academic journey also encompassed an internship with DeFrancisco & Falgiatano Law Firm and a study abroad opportunity in The Hague, The Netherlands, focusing on international courts. Motivated by her dedication to criminal justice reform and aiding the underserved, Madelyn pursued legal studies at Syracuse University College of Law. During her tenure at the College of Law, she excelled academically and earned a position on the executive board of Syracuse Law Review, where she fulfilled the role of Senior Notes Editor. As a member of Law Review, Madelyn continued her exploration of mass incarceration, race, and poverty, presenting her perspectives in the Note titled “Weaknesses in Equal Protection Analysis: An Evaluation of Courts’ Handling of Equal Protection Claims Arising from the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986.” Furthermore, she contributed as a research aide to professors in diverse legal realms, including criminal law and procedure, constitutional law, international law, and administrative/labor law.
